Roller-Crimpers

ROLLER-CRIMPER

Roller-Crimper

The Roller-Crimper is a very important tool in the organic no-till process.

Conventional cultivation can have devastating effects on soil. With traditional cultivation techniques, soil is often ploughed several times to create a fine seed bed and control weeds. This will expose soil particles to erosion from wind and rain, destroy humus and result in severe breakdown of soil structure. Repeated passes by heavy tractors and equipment lead to soil degeneration and to the formation of almost impenetrable layers of compacted soil ("hard pan") below the surface.

When soil is compacted and a "hard pan" forms; helpful soil microbes and earthworms are reduced or eliminated, fields/pastures dry out faster, become waterlogged quicker and plant growth is restricted; resulting in lower crop and pasture yields.

With no-till application, crop fields retain important bacteria, experience less erosion & absorb water better. Hay fields can be worked while leaving them smooth. Grass roots remain down - not exposed to sunlight. Cattle/deer/turkeys can remain in worked fields.

The Roller-Crimper is the best equipment suited for managing cover crops in organic no-till.

No matter if your using ATV/UTVs on your wildlife food plots, or large tractors in commercial agricultural operations, Custom Cultipacker equipment can meet your needs.

EQUIPMENT OPTIONS

Depending on your needs, you can choose between 10" or 16" drum Roller-Crimper.

Either drum size has a 3/8” thick wall and rides on a solid 2” axle. Both have quality greaseable bearings to provide durability and smooth operation.

Our standard blade is 3" wide & 3/8” thick and pre-drilled holes every 8” to facilitate replacement blades.

With any size, the drum has a plug to permit adding/removing water for added weight.

Appx weight:

10" will weigh appx 100lbs per ft dry (135lbs wet).

16” will weigh appx 130lbs per ft dry (220lbs wet).

10” drum Roller-Crimpers

Our 10” drum Roller-Crimpers work well for smaller tractors & ATV/UTVs. Ranging from 3’ – 7’, they ride on a 1 3/4" solid steel axle that runs the full length of the drum.  Frame is 2 ½” angle iron that is 3/8” thick with extra cross-bracing and laser-cut bearing plates to ensure smooth operation and durability.  Quality grease-able bearings & true-pulling frame greatly reduce the drag/load on your ATV/UTV. Available with drop-pin or ball hitch tongue.

16” drum Roller-Crimpers

Our 16” drum Roller-Crimpers are built on a 4x4” square, or 3x5” rectangular tubing frame.  They ride on a heavy 2" solid steel axle & quality grease-able bearings. The extra cross-bracing and laser-cut bearing plates ensure smooth operation and durably.  Blades are reinforced with extra bracing.

When extra strength is needed, we offer frames built with 4” x 6” and 6”x 8” tubing.

You can get any size with 3-pt hitch, pull-tongue, front end loader quick-attach or most any combination for tractors, skid steers and other equipment.

Your choice of colors.

TRAVEL OPTIONS

Our ATV units are heavy enough to actually "compact your soil", but the quality square frame makes it easy to pull. If you buy a unit too lite to actually compact, you haven't met the need for which you purchased a cultipacker.  Available with drop-pin or ball hitch tongue.

Tractor units are available with drop-pin, ball hitch or pinel eyelet.

For traveling

you have a few options:

1.

Towbar available with drop-pin, ball or pintle eyelet.

2.

Depending on the size and type, units are equipped with either

  • 2000lb spindles/hubs & 12" wheels/tires; or
  • 3500lb spindles/hubs & 15" wheels/tires.

3.

Choose a flip-over, manual-lift or hydraulic-lift travel system.

All options are strong & durable and give you a convenient way of transporting from food-plot to food-plot, or to a different property.  It also allows you to lift the unit off the ground when stored.

Flip-over

Flip-over models are available in sizes of 3-10’ with 12" wheels/tires.

 * The flip-over option gives you great flexibility at a reasonable price. But these things weigh appx 100lbs per foot. Flipping over an 800-1000 cultipacker is difficult.  If you opt for a flip-over, I recommend you block both wheels & use a chain or strap to flip. Just let it free-fall and then hook back up. A good alternative for larger units is a manual-lift.

Manual-lift

Manual-lift models models are available in sizes of 3-12' with 12" wheels/tires.

The manual-lift travel system costs less than hydraulics and eliminates the need to disconnect or flip your unit to travel.  The heavy-duty jack to make lifting easier & quicker.

Hydraulic-lift

Hydraulic-lift models are available in any size with 15" wheels/tires, new hoses & quick-connects. Everything you need to hit the field.
